Helicopter Information

Minette Bay Lodge contracts with only the most experienced helicopter companies, some of them with over 40 years flying experience in the north. Pilots undergo rigorous annual re-certification, and we are confident that there is no safer way to access the remote areas of the Coastal Mountains.

We use Eurocopter A-Star (4-passengers and guide), Bell 206 (3 Passengers and guide), and Bell Long Ranger (5 passengers and guide) helicopters for your safety and shorter travelling times.

Helicopter Surcharge:
Group bookings of three or more ensure your personal helicopter, and thereby avoid helicopter surcharges. Following your heli-flyfishing package, some members of your party might care to experience some of our other activities. Please enquire for availability.

* Prices are quoted per person. Stays may be for as many days as you wish.
* Helicopter prices are per person and based upon an occupancy of at least three passengers. Smaller numbers will necessitate a surcharge.

  Additional Activities

  Jet Boat Fly-fishing
With the rooster tail flashing in the sunshine behind you, speed through the glassy and sparkling waters of Minette Bay with the wind in your hair, and then out across the deep blue of the Douglas Channel watching for Orcas, Eagles and Sea-lions, and listening to your guide describe the history of the valley’s First Nation’s peoples. Swish past ancient petroglyphs and spectacular snowcapped scenery, arriving in no time at the estuary picked by your experienced fishing guide. Flash upstream keeping an eye open for the chance sighting of a bear, wolf or moose, while you decide which fly to use to tempt the Salmon in the next still and inviting pool...

  Bear Viewing by Jet Boat
As the Jet Boat slows, the quiet of the estuary descends upon the scene and raising your binoculars, you sharpen your senses to look for Grizzlies. Ever so quietly the jet boat oozes up the river until you reach the perfect viewing point, where, from the river bank, in the midst of a sea of green grass, you spot first one, then another and another of these magnificent bears. Utterly unaffected by your presence and content in their own completely natural and unspoiled environment, many of these bears have never seen a human. Spend a fascinating day watching their interactions with each other...

  Bear Viewing by 4x4
August 10th - September 25th
Leave the rat race behind as you disappear into the forest with your guide to watch Grizzlies gorge on salmon before their long winter hibernation. Watch quietly from the river bank as these impressive animals fill your binoculars with scenes you’ll never forget, and that you’ll describe enthusiastically to the city folk back home...
